MY PHILOSOPHY
Epistemology is the branch of philosophy to which I connect the most. It is the study of knowledge, how we know what we know and the explanation of how we think. It’s needed to obtain knowledge about the world around us. I believe that every child should be provided with the most basic tools to survive in life. I believe that food, shelter, an education, but primarily love, are essential to live. I strongly believe that providing a good education will show children love and care. Children are the base to society as they will be our future and knowledge is the key.
As an educator I commit to respect, care for and teach children as much as I can to ensure they are successful in life. As an educator I will become involved in my students' lives to learn about their interests, their culture, families and needs. I will keep in mind that every child is different and that the fact that they learn at different paces, doesn’t mean they are less intelligent. Children need to feel support and I have decided that I want to be the person they can look back and think of as being there when they needed encouragement to achieve their goals. “Children are like little plants and teachers are like gardeners” (Froebel), this is quote that I have loved since the first time I saw it. It defines my thinking in many aspects and is a quote that I plan to keep in mind to remind me of the importance of my profession. I believe that being an educator is a decision made with the heart and will be well compensated with the smile of a child that has learned to read and write with my help. I made the pledge to become the best at what I do and will work hard to achieve my goal. I will give children the tools to learn about the world around us.
